An institute is a primary organizational unit of the University established with the goal of organizing and conducting research operations within the framework of a specified discipline or disciplines of science as well as cross-disciplinary studies in cooperation with other institutes or universities.

The primary tasks of an institute also cover:
1) developing conditions for scientific development of academic teachers;
2) cooperating with other organizational units of the University in the process of providing education:
3) cooperating with Doctoral Schools in regards to organizing and engaging in scientific activity by postgraduate students;
4) initiating and engaging in scientific activity by students.
