Initially, the Department of Psychology, headed by Prof. Teresa Rzepa operated within the Faculty of Humanities. It was on her initiative, after intensive organisational work, that the Intitute of Psychology was created, which started its scientific and educational activities on 1 X 2008.

The first director of the Institute of Psychology was Prof. Bożydar Kaczmarek. The second director was Assoc. Prof. Waldemar Domachowski, Prof. of the University of Szczecin. Since the academic year 2016/2017, the Director of the Institute of Psychology has been Prof. Zdzisław Kroplewski.

    V INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF PSYCHOLOGY OF RELIGION AND SPIRITUALITY. Spirituality and Religiosity: theoretical and applied aspects. June 2021.

    The departments of Institute of Psychology conduct research in the following research areas:

    • cognitive and psychosocial functioning in different periods of life of people with mental illness, Alzheimer’s disease and patients with MS;
    • a multifactor analysis of the conditions of developmental success in the life cycle of an individual;
    • research into the human personality;
    • psychology of interpersonal communication and types of attachment;
    • intercultural psychology;
    • religibility in relation to different psychological dimensions;
    • positive psychology

    The Institute of Psychology has a Psychological Testing Laboratory.
