• 29 SEPTEMBER 2023

The inauguration of the year is a special event for every university. It is not only a symbolic beginning of classes at the university, but above all, the acceptance of new students into the university community, who take a solemn oath on that day. It is also an opportunity to reflect on the importance of science and knowledge in today’s world, as well as an opportunity to verify current plans and set new goals. The 2023/2024 academic year at the University of Szczecin began with a ceremonial inauguration on 29 September 2023. The ceremony was attended by, among others: representatives of local government authorities and rectors of West Pomeranian universities. The ceremony was also graced by the presence of MPs, representatives of the clergy, education, culture and sports, as well as diplomatic and uniformed services, as well as the medical and bar associations.

In his inaugural speech, prof. Waldemar Tarczyński, Rector of the University of Szczecin, presented the University’s development plans for the coming year and emphasized the recruitment and evaluation success of the University of Szczecin.

Students who obtained the best results in the recruitment procedure took part in the matriculation ceremony, led by dr. Hab. Katarzyna Kotarska, prof. US, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs. Matriculation is always a momentous event in the academic tradition as an act of joining the University community.
