On Friday, 26 April 2024, the University Electoral College elected prof. Waldemar Tarczyński as the Rector of the University of Szczecin. The new term of office will start on 1 September 2024 and last until 31 August 2028.
“The next term of office is a huge challenge and a great commitment to continue hard work for the development of the University of Szczecin. It is an opportunity to effectively continue activities already undertaken, but also to start new projects. The development of our Alma Mater is the mission of people sharing similar values and goals. This would not be possible without committed staff, as well as passionate students and PhD students. Once again, I would like to thank you for your trust and invite everyone to cooperate for the development of the University of Szczecin.”
Prof. Waldemar Tarczyński is a graduate of the Faculty of Engineering and Economics of Transport of the Szczecin University of Technology. He obtained the title of professor of economic sciences in 1999. He has been associated with the University of Szczecin from the beginning of his professional career. Mr. Prof. Tarczyński served as Rector of the University of Szczecin twice, i.e. in 2005-2012 and in the last term 2020-2024.
Scientific interests of prof. Waldemar Tarczyński’s studies focus on the following issues: quantitative methods on the capital market, financial engineering, enterprise financial management, risk management, methods of technical analysis on the stock exchange, methods of enterprise value valuation, as well as economic and financial analysis of the enterprise. Professor Tarczyński is also the author of many works in this field and of software enabling profitability analyzes of securities investment projects on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. He is also the supervisor of 24 doctoral theses and almost 700 master’s theses.
Prof. Waldemar Tarczyński is involved in many social initiatives for the scientific community and the Western Pomerania region, including: is a member of the Statistics and Econometrics Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences, President of the Polish Statistical Society, President of the OŚ Academic Sports Association. He was awarded, among others, the Golden Cross of Merit, the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta, and the Golden Badge of Honor of the West Pomeranian Griffin.
