    A meeting devoted to Polish-German cooperation was held at the Rector’s Office of the University of Szczecin on 21 January 2026. Prof. Waldemar Tarczyński, Rector of the University of Szczecin, and dr. hab. Kinga Flaga-Gieruszyńska, Prof. US, Vice-Rector for Organization welcomed Mr. Karl-Matthias Klause, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Gdańsk, and Ms. Irena Stróżyńska, Honorary Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany in Szczecin.Also participating on behalf of the University of Szczecin were: Prof. Dr. hab. Jörg Hackmann, Director of the International Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies in Kulice; Dr. hab. Maciej Kowalewski, Prof. US, Head of the UNESCO Chair for Sustainable Development; Dr. Norbert Obrycki, Rector’s Plenipotentiary for Territorial Cooperation; Dr. hab. Pierre-Frédéric Weber; Prof. US from the Institute of History and Joanna Czarnecka from the International Relations Dept. 

    During the meeting, directions for further development of Polish-German cooperation were discussed, with particular emphasis on existing activities, including the agreement between 12 universities in the Polish-German border region. The discussion emphasized the importance of the region, of which Szczecin, and the University of Szczecin, is an integral part. Issues related to the implementation of numerous initiatives and projects that enable our university to combine its scientific potential with the development of the border region, were also discussed.
