The scientists dealing with sustainable development in the Polish-German border region met in Szczecin to discuss the most important challenges for the development of the region. The conference was jointly organised by the University of Sustainable Development in Eberswalde, the University of Szczecin – UNESCO Chair for Sustainable Social Development, the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin and the University of Greifswald. The conference was financially supported by the Deutsch-Polnische Wissenschaftsstiftung | Polish-German Foundation for Science
Based on joint projects and previous cooperation between Polish and German universities, we want to combine these different perspectives, focus on this common metropolitan area, including rural areas, and explore starting points and synergies for overarching concepts. Topics may include concepts of sustainable social development, circular economy, cross-border educational networks, as well as socio-cultural and environmental issues. One of the goals of this interdisciplinary conference is to expand and connect existing scientific networks in order to prepare joint projects for the future.
