    Scientists of the University of Szczecin received awards from the Minister of Science and Higher education during Polish Science Gala that is organized on the Polish Science Day, celebrated on the anniversary of the birth of Nicolaus Copernicus. Among nearly a hundred outstanding representatives of the world of science and higher education, the following scientists from the University of Szczecin received awards.

    Prof. dr hab. Elżbieta Załoga, an outstanding transport economist, head of the Department of Transport Policy at the University of Szczecin, was honored with the Award of the Minister of Science and Higher Education for her life achievements. She is the author of numerous publications in the field of transport and transport policy. She has extensive experience in the work of the UN and ECMT transport working groups, as well as a former member of the supervisory boards of transport companies. Her scientific achievements and contribution to the development of transport policy in Poland and Europe have been appreciated at the highest level.

    Dr Barbara Patlewicz and prof. dr hab. Ryszard Tomczyk from the Institute of History of the University of Szczecin were honored with the Awards of the Minister of Science and Higher Education for significant scientific achievements.The reason for this special distinction was their latest successes, i.e. the publication of two extensive volumes containing the results of research: Cemeteries in the suburbs of Lviv. Polish national heritage (vol. 1 by dr. Barbara Patlewicz, vol. 2 by prof. Ryszard Tomczyk, Szczecin: Wydawnictwo Naukowe Uniwersytetu Szczecińskiego, 2023). This publication complements their earlier research project: Lapides clamabunt: Cmentarz Janowski we Lwowie. Polish National Heritage. Currently they are implementing another grant project: About Those Who Passed Away. In the Footsteps of Galician Poles. From Lviv to Vienna.
