The Institute of Biology of the University of Szczecin hosts hydrobiological research by the international research group “Copepoda Research Group CTmax”. The research is supported by the World Association of Copepodologists.

The research involves scientists from the United States: Prof. Grace Wyngaard of James Madison University and Dr. Matthew Sasaki of the University of Massachusetts – Lowell; from Ukraine: Dr. Larysa Samchyshyna of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine; from Germany: Dr. Dagmar Frisch of the Leibniz Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries; and from the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw (Dr. Maria Hołyńska); as well as our doctoral students (Kacper Nowakowski) and graduate students (Urszula Mordacz).

CTmax is a method that will be used to determine the maximum critical temperature for aquatic crustaceans, which is crucial for understanding the impact of climate change on aquatic ecosystems. Activities include laboratory work at the Department of Hydrobiology of the Institute of Biology, fieldwork (lake studies), and knowledge exchange during a specialized scientific seminar.
