
The University of Szczecin has signed a letter of intent with James Madison University (JMU) in the United States. The document paves the way for further development of scientific and educational cooperation and strengthening the relationship between the two universities.
Collaboration between the University of Szczecin and JMU has been ongoing for two years and has intensified significantly in recent months, including visits and joint activities. This summer, Professor Grace Wyngaard from JMU visited our university, delivered a lecture, and participated in the “Copepoda Research Group 2025 CTmax” study, conducted by the US Institute of Biology. This research focused on analyzing the resilience of aquatic ecosystems to thermal stress.
On 31 October, dr hab. Łukasz Sługocki, prof. US visited JMU and participated in a seminar on the use of small crustaceans as a model for studying the adaptation and evolution of organisms in a changing environment.
A student exchange is planned for next year between the two universities, which will allow students to gain experience in an international academic environment and participate in research projects conducted in collaboration with scientists from the United States.
