On 1 October 2025 a unique event took place; for the first time in Szczecin’s history, all of its universities – public and private – began the 2025/2026 academic year together. The inauguration was preceded by a “Walk to the University” – a colorful march of the academic community through the city streets.

Nine universities participated in the event. In addition to the University of Szczecin, these included:
- West Pomeranian University of Technology as the main coordinator
- Academy of Applied Sciences of the Society for Universal Knowledge
- Academy of Art in Szczecin
- Collegium Balticum – Academy of Applied Sciences in Szczecin
- Maritime University of Technology in Szczecin
- Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin
- WSB Merito University Szczecin
- West Pomeranian Business School – Academy of Applied Sciences.

The ceremony was preceded by a “Walk to the University”, which, as usual, departed from Solidarności Square in Szczecin and traversed the city streets, heading towards the Helena Majdaniec Summer Theatre. A joint opening ceremony took place there, bringing together university authorities, officials, and students. The Summer Theatre was packed. The ceremony was opened by prof. dr hab. inż. Arkadiusz Terman, Rector of West Pomeranian University of Technology, who delivered the inaugural address. After the official part, each rector matriculated their students. The ceremony was enhanced by a performance by all the academic choirs.
