The University of Szczecin has been included for the first time in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2025. Among the 40 Polish universities that have been included in the ranking, the University of Szczecin is the only university from Western Pomerania.

Times Higher Education (THE) is one of the most prestigious and influential sources of information about higher education in the world. THE is particularly known for its annual World University Rankings, which evaluates universities from around the world in terms of various indicators, such as the quality of teaching, scientific research, number of citations, internationalization and cooperation with industry. It is considered one of the so-called “big three” world university rankings, alongside QS World University Rankings and Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU). The latest study involved over 2,000 universities from 115 countries.

In the Times Higher Education ranking, the University of Szczecin was placed in the 1501+ group, which means that it occupies a position above 1500, and its classification is shared with other universities from Poland. It was placed in the group together with universities such as the Białystok University of Technology, the University of Łódź and the University of Silesia.

A distinctive element of the University of Szczecin’s position is the high “International Outlook” index, which amounts to 32.2. This index assesses the degree of internationalization of the university, taking into account the number of foreign students, employees and international cooperation.

Being included in the Times Higher Education ranking opens up new opportunities for the university, and these results will influence the shaping of the University’s further development strategy. In addition to the main ranking, THE also publishes a number of other classifications, such as rankings by region, field of science, and rankings of young universities. Thanks to this ranking, universities can analyze their strengths and weaknesses and adjust their development strategies to attract international students, employees and research partners.
